I have been busy the last few days working on 4 to 5 projects and just can’t seem to get them done. I am also looking for a new digital camera and can’t find the one I want to get at any of the local camera stores to just click a few shots and try it out. You would think that if the store puts it in there weekly add they would have a few in stock to sell and at least one so a potential customer could go in and try feel of the camera out.
A buddy of mine got a Canon D70 and brought it to the Linux meeting last night so I was able to play with that one a little. The feel of it was good in my hand but I didn’t like the feel of the lens he had on it. When you turned the focusing knob you it felt like plastic on plastic. But I am still thinking of the Pentax *ist D. I have read a lot of good reviews but I just can’t find one to play with.

In the thick of the evening when the dealing got rough She was too pat to open and too cool to bluff As I picked up my matches and was closing the door I had one of those flashes: I’d been there before– been there before. |

The *ist-d is nice, but when you’re paying $1000+ for a camera you really want to make sure you’ve spent at least a bit of time with it in your hands to ensure you are COMPLETELY happy with it. BTW, the rumors are that pentax will be putitng out another lower priced entry level d-slr in september. Check out dpreview for some more (though not many) details.
