Personal

So ever have one of those days? 1

I have been busy the last few days working on 4 to 5 projects and just can’t seem to get them done. I am also looking for a new digital camera and can’t find the one I want to get at any of the local camera stores to just click a few shots and try it out. You would think that if the store puts it in there weekly add they would have a few in stock to sell and at least one so a potential customer could go in and try feel of the camera out.

A buddy of mine got a Canon D70 and brought it to the Linux meeting last night so I was able to play with that one a little. The feel of it was good in my hand but I didn’t like the feel of the lens he had on it. When you turned the focusing knob you it felt like plastic on plastic. But I am still thinking of the Pentax *ist D. I have read a lot of good reviews but I just can’t find one to play with.

She had rings on her fingers and
bells on her shoes,
And I knew without asking’ she was
into the blues
Scarlet begonias
tucked into her curls
I knew right away
she was not like other girls–
other girls
In the thick of the evening
when the dealing got rough
She was too pat to open and
too cool to bluff
As I picked up my matches and
was closing the door
I had one of those flashes:
I’d been there before–
been there before.
I ain’t often right
but I’ve never been wrong
It seldom turns out the way
it does in the song
Once in a while
you get shown the light
in the strangest of places
if you look at it right

Let the summer begin…

My favorite time of the year has started……summer. The temp goes up and the leaves come out on the trees and the days are longer. And no snow to shovel…..

This weekend we had a nice cookout with a good bunch of friends and the conversation was great. I would like to thank those that came for coming. I think this year we are going to do a few more cookouts and use the backyard a lot more than in previous years…..

I agree with this….

Before I started on the road of computer IT, I was a radio Dee-Jay at a small town radio station. We were able to program our own music and I enjoyed it. Most of the stations back then were locally owned and were part of there communities. But in the last few years, most of the stations in the big to medium markets have been bought up by big companies and are being programmed from a central local and being automated. The music industry has also changed the way artists and radio stations work together. I found this article this morning about this so here is a copy of it to read

To wait is not good….

Last Sunday I saw a sweet ’65 VW Microbus on my way back from Flemington. I went back on Friday to take a look at it. The body was in perfect shape…no body rust, the pan was rust free. The interior need a new headliner and the dash needed some work around the radio but other than that it looked good. I was unable to look a the engine because I didn’t have the key to open the hatch but I crawled under it and it looked good. It was leaking a little oil but what VW air-cooled engine doesn’t. The guy wanted $8000 for it so I had to sleep on it… Well I waited for today to call him.. I left a message and he got back to me and told me I was a day late…..he had sold it yesterday…..

The search goes on…I am looking for a 65-67 VW Microbus that has little to no rust on it and runs… I want to use it as a daily driver for the summer months……

bad day Thursday…. 1

Bad day yesterday….I got only about 5.5 hours sleep on Wed night and I think we drank 1 to many pitchers of beer….

Ended up bailing out of here around 11:30 and crashing out for a few hours. I had to get up and come back in to get my check. I would have gotten the check in on time but some guy on his cell phone wouldn’t pull out of the parking lot while he was talking…

Well today is Avery’s parent teacher conference..so the question is will she have done better this semester to get all her punishments wiped out.

Planning to go see “The Punisher” movie tonight. I hope they do a good job of capturing the comic in the movie….

Gone are the days when the ox fall down
he’d take up the yoke and plow the fields around
Gone are the days when the ladies said “please,
gently Jack Jones won’t you come to me?”

Brown eyed women and red grenadine
the bottle was dusty but the liquor was clean
Sound of the thunder with the rain pouring down
and it looks like the old man’s getting on

In 1920 when he stepped to the bar
he drank to the dregs of the whiskey jar
In 1930 when the Wall caved in
he paid his way selling red eye gin

First day off in awhile

Took the day off today..need a little break from work. My parents are in town for the next few days so I figured it would be a good day to take.

Spending the day hanging with family and coloring eggs….

I got a friend who is a little down due to some major loses in the last year so send some good/happy vibes and Karma her way…….this Karma shot is for you Gabs….

Have a good holiday weekend all.

I am adding a little new wrinkle to my entries by throwing little snip-its of lyrics at the end.

As the singer of the songs use to say:

I ain’t often right
but I’ve never been wrong
It seldom turns out the way
it does in the song
Once in a while
you get shown the light
in the strangest of places
if you look at it right

Happy April

First a big wow….3 weeks ago www.haverling.org went live. As of this morning, we had 177 alumni sign up. That is more then classmates.com has gotten since the beginning of the year.

I would like to say hi to an old friend who got in touch with me because of the site so hello Gabs…..

Been working in the office room the last few weekends. I got the walls painted and the laminated floor laid. I also got the crown molding installed and painted, I just have to put the rest of the trim up and I am done….then I can get the desks in and the computers set up.

My parents are coming on Thursday night to spend the weekend here for Easter. We are spending Sat. at the Monet exhibit and then out to dinner for there wedding anniversary. That’s it for now…..

Been a while

The machine got built and it is a sweet machine. I had to move it to the closet for the evening since yesterday was my daughters birthday and we had people over for Chinese food.

Today I get to go to a seminar on “Emergency Planning and Security for Businesses”.

The Mercer County Sheriff’s Office will join with the college in offering “Business Security Starts at the Front Door.” Participants will look at issues involving their physical plant, investigate alert and alarm systems and their costs, and review their plan of action, taking note of response times, training and practice. Human factors such as staff backgrounds and liabilities will be addressed, along with issues such as workplace violence, alcohol and drug counseling, and confidentiality.

I will give a brief report on it later this weekend.

All is well otherwise, should be a nice weekend working on the office space. Hopefully, I will get it painted and ready for the flooring to be laid.

Gotta run.

Office move, Server Crash and life

I am alive and kicking. Just been real busy getting the serve back up and running. I am about 99% done with it. I still have to finish the Lavingaonline.com site. I lost the database for that one so I have decided to move it from postnuke to Movable type. No one was using any of the features except the photo gallery and back issues of the family news paper. So I moved them over and will be getting the site up either today or tomorrow.

In between all this I had to get the Harrisburg office moved into a bigger facility. I spent all day Sunday and most of the day Monday getting it done. They have everything but a connection to the Internet. I had to order a T-1 because verizon lied to the local carrier out there and then told them the day before the move that they couldn’t provide DSL because the switch wasn’t provisioned for it.

Other then that all things are going well. Once the Harrisburg thing is done I will be moving onto the XP roll out for the company and then the Server 2003 roll out after that.

Carolyn and I have also started the South Beach Diet. I am in need of losing at least 40 Lbs. I studied a bunch of the current diets. The South Beach one to me looks like the best one because it gets you eating right and doesn’t make you count calories or anything. Just really stay off the starchy foods and limit your sugar intake. We are currently in the middle of phase 1 and I am feeling a whole lot better. I have stopped drinking coke-colla for awhile so I hope that I can lose my 40 lbs.
