My Aching Back

Have spent the last few days in bed on my back. I threw my back out on Sat and have been hurting ever since. I am moving around better since I moved to my daughters room to a firmer mattress. My wife says that it’s because I moved some air conditioners but who knows.

I am hopeing to go to work on Thursday. I am going to spend one more day at home to let my back get just a little better.

It’s that time again

Well it’s that time again to start work on the Family picnic site. The date for the picnic this year is July 26. It’s a Sat so I can have a good time and relax the next day. This year I actually bought a domain name for the picnic site www.lavignapicnic.com. That now takes the number of domains I own to 5 and only one that has any marketable value. I am going to try to get the site up and running by the middle of April. I have Nat working on the graphics for it and I hope to get her to do a little more as well.

The weekend went well spent the day Saturday with Avery going to the comic store and to the movies. Sunday watched the race and had Nat and Del over for dinner. We watched Sweet Home Alabama and just talked and had a good time.

Gaming was good this week except that I was dead tired and I still had to go back to work. but I had a good time and the game went well.

Going to try to get as much of the stuff in the office room tonight up to the Attic or down to the basement. Then I can work on getting the paneling off the wall and the Cat-5 drooped down into the walls. Well back to work.

The Day after the Beacon

Wow what a show I will definitely be going next year if they are still this good. The show started off hot and just kept getting hotter. They ended around 10:50 ann Henry and I thought wow short show and hey we will be getting home early. Then Butch Trucks came out and made a quick announcement that for the encore they would do something they have never played before. He got back up behind his kit and the rest of the band came back out. And then all hell broke lose as they kicked off the encore with a JAMMING version of Layla…in memory of Duane Allman who played guitar on it with Eric Clapton. this was followed right into Mountain Jam. During Jam they fit in the drum solo and base solo. So the encore went for another hour which was great. So if you are in the NYC area in the next few weeks stop by the Beacon and see if you can get a ticket because it will be worth it.

Here is the set list for last night:

1. You Don’t Love Me
2. Stand Back
3. Come and Go Blues
4. 44 Blues
5. Maydell
6. Hot ‘Lanta
7. Soulshine
8. Rocking Horse
9. Gambler’s Roll
10. Leave My Blues at Home

Set II
11. Firing Line
12. Done Somebody Wrong
13. Hoochie Coochie Man
14. No One To Run With
15. Don’t Keep Me Wonderin’
16. Who’s Been Talking

18. Instrumental Illness

Encore

20. Mountain Jam

Got up around 10 and took Avery to the book store and then a few comic book stores. She liked Comic-Lair in Trenton so I think that will be the one she and I will start using to get her started on reading and collecting comics.

It helps to read all the instructions

I have been working on getting Samba-tng working on the Harrisburg server so I can leave it Linux and not have to load that NT thing. The reason for using TNG version is that it allows the box to be a PDC and do Trusts. But first I had to get it to talk to the LDAP server. So I printed out the text doc on setting up samba and ldap and totally skipped the part about the password file that was needed. So every time I tried to add a user to the domain it would tell me that I was not authorized. I have jumped that hurtle and am now working on the trusts to get the corp domain talking to the Harrisburg domain. I hope to have that done by the end of the day.

Hey bowling went well last night. It looked like everyone had a good time and the PE society raised about $1000 for the scholarship fund. I played real bad I broke 100 the first game but couldn’t get past 80 on the last 2. I think bowling is a good game I just don’t have time to play as much as I would like. I know Avery would play if I got her out there and she go better at it and the same goes for Carolyn.

Well off to lunch and then back for the afternoon then off to NYC for the Allman Brothers show.

What a day…the Allman Brothers must be opening in NYC at the Beacon.

Well the Allman Brothers open there 13 day run at the Beacon this evening. Henry and I head there tomorrow. I think this might be the last year I go see them at the Beacon for awhile…it all depends on the show and the crowd. Last year we had seats under the balcony and there was a continuous hum of people talking. I hope the seats are better this year. I am glad Warren is playing with them so I can get my Warren fix. I have to start keeping an eye out for when Gov’t Mule will be in the area so I can get the mule fix.

Been working on the Samba-tng machine for Pa. but keep getting the same error. I can’t add any users to the sam database. So I will just keep on beating on it and I am sure I will get it figured out. Going bowling tonight with the company for a fundraiser for the PE society scholarship fund…should have fun then go home and spend some quality time with the family.

On my way out the door after lunch I heard a weird noise coming out of the light post in the front yard. It was 2 birds trying to build a nest in the post. I got them out and taped up the holes they were using to get in…only at my house.

Upgrade done

Just upgraded Movable Type to 2.63. If you have any problems please let me know.

Don’t you need light?

The new work area has it’s own light switch so I can control the lights in it. So I hardly turn them on since I get a lot of indirect light from around the cube. But it seems no one else seems to understand the concept of no direct lights on mean less eye strain for me. So every once in a while I get some stopping by and saying “you need more light!” or “you work in the dark?” or “don’t you like light?” Since I moved in on Monday I haven’t had an eye strain headache and less itchy eyes.

Just a quick hello to Sachdeep who stopped by and said I found your web site…so HI….

Yea moved into bigger cube

Well I have moved into the bigger cube. I now have my computer building area in the same area as my desk. I will put up pictures of the final layout in the next few days. I want to give a big thank you to Del and Nat for helping me pull cable from the computer room to the new space. Spent most of the morning Sat moving stuff across the hall. Most of the little stuff is still in boxes but got all the computers and servers moved over Sat and today. Still have to organize the work bench area and get things the way I want them.

Other then being at work on Sat morning and evening the weekend was pretty good. Spent yesterday with Avery. Went to the park before the race and let her run and play.

More fun tomorrow.
